what is graphic/video card?

A graphic card or video accelerator card or display adapter, is an expansionwhose function is to generate and output image to a display.

Nowadays many video cards offer added functions, such as accelerated rendering of3D scenes,TV tuner adapter, video capture, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 decoding, TV output, or the ability to connect multiple monitors.But with so many functions it becomes very difficult to choose the right one.What are are your requirements,pc specification,and ofcourse your budget.

ATI RADEON HD 4870

ATI and NVIDIA both has taken turns at one-upping the other with better products and excellent reviews.recently,ATI gained the upper hand again by releasing the cutting egde RADEON HD 4870 and 4850,which delivered better performance levels across the market.the 4830 is CrossFireX-ready,and supports end-to-end HDMI with 7.1 surround sound support .In conclusion,ATI has really brought in the big guns with this series and it gives the best possible competition to the 9800 GT that any card in the same category can give.with DIRECTX 10.1 support,the 4830 does have a slight edge on the 9800 GT,which might be the only reason to choose one over the other.

NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800 GTX

The NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800 GTX is a good high end graphics card.It's production was aimed at replacing the long standing king of pc graphic performance,the GEFORCE 8800 GTX.The NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800 GTX is a straight forward replacement of the older 512 MB 8800 GTX card.The only difference between the two is the slight core clock and memory clock.I know many guys would not have much knowledge about these functions,so i had kept it simple.it can not be said that it is a replacement of one's existing GEFORCE 8800 gtx graphics card.It is the renaming and repricing of an older but capable graphics card.So in all fairness ,the 9800 GTX is suitable for an upgrade from a mid-range DIRECTX 9 or 10 card but really a direct,superior replacement of the previous generation of cards.so i recommend you that the 9800 GTX be purchased only when one cannot find the 8800 GTX at a cheaper price.

ATI OR NVIDIA?

There are many many companies who are making video cards e.g ATI,NVIDIA,MSI.But the main competitors are NVIDIA and ATI.

They are making high end as well as low end cards but nvidia has the performance edge with their hottest cards.I know few will not agree with me,but more experts prefer NVIDIA.

It does not mean that NVIDIA has got everything right,ATI is also making cards that are low on your pocket but high on performance.

In last,it depends on your requirements,because in certain categories ATI is at par over NVIDIA.
