We've been waiting for the GeForce 8800 GTX since we first got wind that Nvidia's next-generation 3D card would be out before the end of this year. It's everything we'd hoped it would be. For a suggested street price of $599, the GeForce 8800 GTX brings tremendous processing power to current-generation games. It's also the first card to market that will support all of the 3D gaming-related features of Windows Vista and DirectX 10. The initial release of next-gen games is a bit far off. The poster child, the 3D shooter Crysis, is set to debut in March 2007, and even that game might not put all of the next-gen bells and whistles into play. Still, the GeForce 8800 GTX is so powerful, even compared to ATI's fastest dual card combination, that there's no reason to spend roughly $1,000 on a pair of Radeon cards when you can outperform them with a single $600 GeForce 8800 GTX. That and the fact that Nvidia has finally caught up to ATI's image-quality advantages earn Nvidia's newest card our Editors' Choice award for high-end 3D graphics cards.

We know that AMD's next-gen ATI Radeon graphics cards are on the way this year, but until they make their debut, Nvidia's GeForce 8000-series cards continue to offer far-and-away the best 3D graphics performance. XFX's new 320MB GeForce 8800 GTS card is no exception, and its $300 price tag means you'll have to suffer less of a financial blow to get ready for the dawn of next-gen PC graphics. Nvidia is still plagued by the absence of a full Windows Vista driver, but even if the software was ready today, with no true next-gen games to play with, we can't say much about these cards' next-gen performance. What is clear is that for current 3D games, if the 320MB GeForce 8800 GTS isn't quite as fast as its higher-end GeForce counterparts, it's still miles beyond anything currently available in its price range

NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800 GTX

The NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800 GTX is a good high end graphics card.It's production was aimed at replacing the long standing king of pc graphic performance,the GEFORCE 8800 GTX.The NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800 GTX is a straight forward replacement of the older 512 MB 8800 GTX card.The only difference between the two is the slight core clock and memory clock.I know many guys would not have much knowledge about these functions,so i had kept it simple.it can not be said that it is a replacement of one's existing GEFORCE 8800 gtx graphics card.It is the renaming and repricing of an older but capable graphics card.So in all fairness ,the 9800 GTX is suitable for an upgrade from a mid-range DIRECTX 9 or 10 card but really a direct,superior replacement of the previous generation of cards.so i recommend you that the 9800 GTX be purchased only when one cannot find the 8800 GTX at a cheaper price.

ATI OR NVIDIA?

There are many many companies who are making video cards e.g ATI,NVIDIA,MSI.But the main competitors are NVIDIA and ATI.

They are making high end as well as low end cards but nvidia has the performance edge with their hottest cards.I know few will not agree with me,but more experts prefer NVIDIA.

It does not mean that NVIDIA has got everything right,ATI is also making cards that are low on your pocket but high on performance.

In last,it depends on your requirements,because in certain categories ATI is at par over NVIDIA.
