GeForce 8800 GTX

We've been waiting for the GeForce 8800 GTX since we first got wind that Nvidia's next-generation 3D card would be out before the end of this year. It's everything we'd hoped it would be. For a suggested street price of $599, the GeForce 8800 GTX brings tremendous processing power to current-generation games. It's also the first card to market that will support all of the 3D gaming-related features of Windows Vista and DirectX 10. The initial release of next-gen games is a bit far off. The poster child, the 3D shooter Crysis, is set to debut in March 2007, and even that game might not put all of the next-gen bells and whistles into play. Still, the GeForce 8800 GTX is so powerful, even compared to ATI's fastest dual card combination, that there's no reason to spend roughly $1,000 on a pair of Radeon cards when you can outperform them with a single $600 GeForce 8800 GTX. That and the fact that Nvidia has finally caught up to ATI's image-quality advantages earn Nvidia's newest card our Editors' Choice award for high-end 3D graphics cards.

GeForce 8800 GTS

We know that AMD's next-gen ATI Radeon graphics cards are on the way this year, but until they make their debut, Nvidia's GeForce 8000-series cards continue to offer far-and-away the best 3D graphics performance. XFX's new 320MB GeForce 8800 GTS card is no exception, and its $300 price tag means you'll have to suffer less of a financial blow to get ready for the dawn of next-gen PC graphics. Nvidia is still plagued by the absence of a full Windows Vista driver, but even if the software was ready today, with no true next-gen games to play with, we can't say much about these cards' next-gen performance. What is clear is that for current 3D games, if the 320MB GeForce 8800 GTS isn't quite as fast as its higher-end GeForce counterparts, it's still miles beyond anything currently available in its price range

NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800 GTX

The NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800 GTX is a good high end graphics card. It's production was aimed at replacing the long standing king of pc graphic performance, the GEFORCE 8800 GTX.The NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800 GTX is a straight forward replacement of the older 512 MB 8800 GTX card. The only difference between the two is the slight core clock and memory clock.I know many guys would not have much knowledge about these functions,so i had kept it simple.it can not be said that it is a replacement of one's existing GEFORCE 8800 gtx graphics card.It is the renaming and repricing of an older but capable graphics card.So in all fairness ,the 9800 GTX is suitable for an upgrade from a mid-range DIRECTX 9 or 10 card but really a direct, superior replacement of the previous generation of cards.so i recommend you that the 9800 GTX be purchased only when one cannot find the 8800 GTX at a cheaper price.

ATI OR NVIDIA?

There are many many companies who are making video cards e.g ATI,NVIDIA,MSI.But the main competitors are NVIDIA and ATI.
They are making high end as well as low end cards but nvidia has the performance edge with their hottest cards.I know few will not agree with me,but more experts prefer NVIDIA.
It does not mean that NVIDIA has got everything right,ATI is also making cards that are low on your pocket but high on performance.
In last,it depends on your requirements, because in certain categories ATI is at par over NVIDIA.

Radeon HD 2600 XT

At $150, ATI's new Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card comes $25 to $50 under Nvidia's competing Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS cards. But before we give out any good deal awards, we need to note that we find the 3D performance of both new cards disappointing, even considering their mainstream ambitions. The only thing ATI's new card truly excels at is decoding HD video, but then so does Nvidia's card (especially after a recent driver update). We're certainly glad that HD video enthusiasts have a wide variety of options, but midrange gamers can get much more bang for the buck with an older 3D card while they wait for more next-gen games to come out, and more powerful midrange graphics cards to play them on.

SPECIFICATIONS:

ATI Radeon HD 3850

Finally, a midrange graphics card worth its silicon. ATI's new 256MB Radeon HD 3850 graphics card is the best-performing 3D card in its price class. For $179, it will let you play most current 3D games at reasonable resolutions and detail settings, bowling over Nvidia's GeForce 8600 GTS cards on every game. You should keep your expectations in check; you won't be playing Crysis in DirectX 10-mode with ATI's new card. Also keep in mind that Nvidia claims a 256MB version of its speedy GeForce 8800 GT will hit the market before the holiday season is up. You can also pay $75 for the 512MB GeForce 8800 GT and receive a marked performance boost. But if you or someone you're shopping for is a PC gamer in need of a graphics upgrade, and you need to stay within a budget, right now the Radeon HD 3850 offers a truly viable midrange gaming experience. Despite the usual caveats of an ever-fluctuating 3D market, for the moment, at least, ATI's new Radeon HD 3850 graphics card delivers the best bang-for-the buck in PC graphics hardware. Until now we haven't had an acceptable sub-$200 option for PC gaming this year. Thanks to AMD, now we do.

SPECIFICATIONS:

ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2

AMD's new ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 graphics card delivers on its promise of best-in-class 3D performance at a similar price to the comparable card from Nvidia. If we were buying a new 3D card or a new gaming desktop, the $450 Radeon HD 3870 X2 is the card we would look for, at least today. We would feel much more strongly about this recommendation if ATI had the drivers to back up this card's hardware prowess, especially because, by the time ATI does polish the drivers, Nvidia may have made new product introductions. Our overall suggestion is to wait for ATI to update its driver software and to see what else might be on the horizon before laying out for this, or any other, high-end 3D card.
The 3D graphics card market changes too rapidly for us to get bullish about a card with premature driver software. The ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 shows promise, even outscoring Nvidia on many PC games, but we would still wait until AMD works out the kinks before handing over your $450.

SPECIFICATIONS:

GeForce 9800GX2

Nvidia intends for its new dual-chip, 1GB GeForce 9800GX2 3D cards to replace the venerable GeForce 8800 GTX as its flagship 3D graphics card. Featured here in the $600 Asus EN9800GX2, we found that Nvidia's new card does indeed surpass the 8800 GTX, and for most PC gamers looking for a high-end upgrade, this card and others like it will be the obvious choice.Nvidia's new flagship 3D card delivers almost all the performance we expect for its price. If you can live with "almost," at this price range, then this is a solid PC gaming option. We also wouldn't blame you Crysis fans for waiting to see what's in store later this year.

SPECIFICATIONS:

GeForce GTX 295

Nvidia's GeForce GTX 295 is the single fastest 3D card on the market, and for a relatively aggressive price. Added bonuses like power efficiency and PhysX support sweeten the deal, but even without those extra benefits, we'd still recommend this card for its processing power and comparative value.

SPECIFICATIONS:

GeForce GTX 260

It is the most power efficient card in its category but there is some performance issues .I don't think most gamers shopping for a midrange 3D card are looking for power efficiency, but for those conscientious few, the EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked is the card for you. Otherwise, you can get noticeably more performance and capability from an only slightly more expensive ATI card.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Radeon HD 4850

It is the best selling card under 300$ but the main disadvantage is that it is not power efficient.
Even if it's a relative power hog, the Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 X2 brings so much speed and utility to the table it's hard for us to recommend another midrange 3D card. Only the particularly power conscious or those who play games with known multichip scaling issues should look elsewhere.

what is graphic/video card?

A graphic card or video accelerator card or display adapter, is an expansionwhose function is to generate and output image to a display.
Nowadays many video cards offer added functions, such as accelerated rendering of3D scenes,TV tuner adapter, video capture, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 decoding, TV output, or the ability to connect multiple monitors. But with so many functions it becomes very difficult to choose the right one. What are are your requirements,pc specification, and ofcourse your budget.
So help you guys out,i have created this blog. This blog is completely dedicated to graphic cards issues.

ATI RADEON HD 4870

ATI and NVIDIA both has taken turns at one-upping the other with better products and excellent reviews.recently,ATI gained the upper hand again by releasing the cutting egde RADEON HD 4870 and 4850,which delivered better performance levels across the market.the 4830 is CrossFireX-ready,and supports end-to-end HDMI with 7.1 surround sound support .In conclusion,ATI has really brought in the big guns with this series and it gives the best possible competition to the 9800 GT that any card in the same category can give.with DIRECTX 10.1 support, the 4830 does have a slight edge on the 9800 GT,which might be the only reason to choose one over the other.
